Shaolin Qi Mei Staff

The Millennium-old Shaolin Temple, located in Songshan Mountain, is renowned both at home and abroad for its Shaolin Kung Fu. Shaolin Kung Fu has boxing as its foundation and weapons as an extension. The Shaolin staff is one of the regular weapons frequently used by Shaolin monks and is regarded as the “ancestor of all weapons”.

Among Shaolin staff techniques, the Qi Mei Staff is the most famous. The Qi Mei Staff gets its name from the fact that “when the staff is stood on the ground, its height is level with the eyebrows”. Each move of this staff technique has its own posture, and each posture follows a certain method. All the methods are practical. The techniques are unique, simple, and can be used for both long – range and short – range attacks, with well – organized postures and methods. In actual combat, there are techniques such as parrying, blocking, circling, seizing, twirling, wrapping, lifting, hooking, thrusting, intercepting, sealing, pressing, spinning, striking, sweeping, and chopping.

The Shaolin staff is imposing and prestigious, and is regarded as the leader of Shaolin Kung Fu. When practicing the Shaolin staff, it creates a howling wind. The rhythm is vivid, the staff techniques are intensive, and the movements are fast and fierce. It can not only strengthen the body but also defeat the enemy.

The Course Features:

– When the Shaolin staff is wielded, it can be used with acrobatic maneuvers such as turning, chopping, returning, and dancing. It is flexible and changeable, with the howling sound of the staff and a magnificent momentum. When practicing, it has the power to sweep away thousands of enemies and strike in all directions, with boundless power.

– From basic staff techniques to practical applications, the whole process is demonstrated. It is a martial art that can truly be applied in actual combat.

– Instructor: The 32nd generation direct descendant of the Shaolin Temple. He started practicing martial arts and learning Zen at the age of 12 and is proficient in various types of Shaolin martial arts.

– The course is presented with English voice – over and English subtitles.
